In traditional tile production, surface textures and ease of maintenance used to be on two ends of a continuum. Rough textures provide antislip properties, but are extremely hard to clean. Smooth textures are easy to clean, but are not antislip.
In the production of tiles for wet areas like bathrooms, a balance has to be sought with the customers’ requirements in mind, so that the end product can provide a certain degree of slip resistance at the same time being easy to clean.
